DIY Wine Glass Charms

Personalized wine glass charms are so easy to make and make for great housewarming or wedding gifts.

I was hanging out with my girlfriends the other night and we were labeling our glasses with these dedicated wine glass markers. For wine glass markers, you would think they wouldn’t smudge or rub off easily with condensation. It’s kind of the minimum requirement for writing on wine glasses, isn’t it? Needless to say, by the end of the night, no one knew whose glass was whose.

It prompted me to make my own set. It’s just one of those things you never think to go shopping for and I’m certainly not going to waste a birthday gift request on wine tags!

There are many ways to make personalized wine glass tags. They range from the more disposable kind to more of a charm-like tag that should weather any party or spills.

Wine glass charms can be the perfect gift for any wine lover in your life.

Given the plethora of opportunities to use these charms, I decided to try out different methods of making them.

Materials for DIY Wine Charms and Tags

Depending on what type of wine charms or tags you are making, some of these items are optional.

Metallic tags – They are usually used for jewelry making but also make for a great charm base. I love these assorted sets from Amazon.

Charm Rings – These charm rings make it super easy to attach and detach the charm from the wine glass.

Vinyl – Permanent vinyl are an easy way to add a personalized addition to the metallic charm. I used a basic black vinyl from an assorted set from Amazon.

Cardstock – Here is the exact gilded ink cardstock I used in the floral wine tag set.

Lamination tools – I laminated my cardstock to make it semi-permanent.

Cutting Machine – I use a Cricut. Check out my recommendations for Cricut machines and accessories for beginners for more info.

Templates – My set of floral wine tag templates are available for free in both printable and SVG formats in my resource library.

How to make DIY Wine Tags

The vinyl on metallic charms are fairly straight forward. Just cut your vinyl and then add it to the tag like a sticker.

For the cardstock wine tags, I like to first laminate the cardstock so it can weather a few drops of liquid but it’s not a big deal if they get destroyed.

You can just cut a piece of cardstock the size of your tags and do multiple colors with one lamination sheet.

I cut my laminated sheet of cardstock using my Cricut. I used a standard mat with the pressure set on Mylar. I found for thicker cardstock, I had to add extra pressure on the Mylar setting.
