Easy Occasion Cricut Cards

I once again found myself for a basic Thank You card that wasn’t too difficult to make and suited every circumstance.

So here I am again, designing another set of every occasion cards. This time, I didn’t want anything too floral or feminine. I wanted something interchangeable for the recipient of the cards.

I designed this set with that in mind. The top cut out layer adds a nice custom touch but you can change out the base layer to suit the color scheme and feel you are going for. The sentiment on top can also be interchangeable.

Material for Easy Occasion Cards

Cardstock – I used white cardstock on top because it tends to go with anything but you can use anything. Here’s a list of my favorite brands:

Glue – I used a roller dispenser and a glue pen for this project.

Cutting Machine – I use a Cricut. Check out my recommendations for Cricut machines and accessories for beginners for more info.

Templates – This entire set of SVG templates with interchangeable sentiments is available for free in my resource library.

Tips for Assembling the Cards

Cutting the card designs

I like to use a fresh light grip blue mat for most paper projects because it is easiest to clean up.

I would recommend a lint roller to pick up all the scraps after cutting.

Scoring the cards

I hate using scoring lines with the Cricut so I rarely include them. Instead, I like to just do it by hand. I first fold the hard in half ever so slightly to mark the placement of the fold.

Then I take a ruler and a scraper and draw a line.

Gluing the Cards

For more intricate designs, I like to flip the design over on an old magazine and then run the glue dot dispenser over the back. This insures sufficient adhesive coverage.

For the letters layer, since I did this using cardstock, I just drew along the letters on the back with my glue pen. This was the easiest way to get them on. I also created a shadow layer for text but then chose not to to use it because it wasn’t necessary to reinforce the letters.
