I love making little personalized gifts that cost next to nothing, especially when it’s as versatile as post-it notes.
I mean, everyone uses post-it notes. Even my kids love having them around to do random doodles here and there.
As I was designing these, it occurred to me they’re kind of like all the card’s I’ve designed. So then I decided to repurpose some of my card designs that I thought would do well in this square card-like configuration.
What do you think? Well, I think they’re pretty darn cute.
It gets even better, these post-it covers are super easy to make.

Materials for DIY Sticky Note Dispensers
Cardstock – As you can see, I used a variety of different colored cardstock I had around. Here are some of my favorite brands:
- Assorted Starter Pack – Basic assorted colors, great starter pack, perfect weight for most papercraft projects
- Cricut Joy Insert Card Packs – You don’t have to use these with the Cricut Joy, they are nice material kids for cardmaking.
- Cardstock Warehouse Brand on Amazon – I love the quality of all the matte-colored cardstock with Cardstock Warehouse. It is my go-to brand for individual matte colors that I might need
- Poptone Assorted Variety Pack – This is the perfect peppy assortment of colors of heavy cardstock. It’s a heavy cardstock assortment with colors I actually use frequently for cardmaking.
- Seasonal Assorted Variety Pack – This is a slight variation on the Poptone assortment and has a quite few neutrals that complement almost any accent color.
- Stardream Metallics Line – For paper crafts, the Stardream line is the go-to for a metallic shimmer finish. It is the perfect sheen to make any project pop. The core is also colored is which hard to find for metallic paper.
Glue – I have a few favorites for cardmaking, the key is to use glue that minimizes paper warping.
Post it notes – I guess this is pretty obvious. I love this limited colors edition set, there are so many pretty colors in there.
Cutting Machine – I use a Cricut. Check out my recommendations for Cricut machines and accessories for beginners for more info.
Post it note holder template – Templates for all three are pictured above are available for free in both printable and SVG formats. These are available in my resource library.
Tips on assembling post it note covers
Step 1: Cut out all your cardstock from the templates
Step 2: Score and fold the cover base
I added some score lines in with my template set but you will have to manually set those lines to “scoring” if you are using the Cricut to make the cards.
I personally hate scoring with the Cricut so I just do it by hand with a ruler and a scraper.
Step 3: Glue the crease down to the base of the cover
I like to just add a little glue in the crease and then hold it down in places for a few seconds. I sometimes will use a paper clip if I’m really impatient.
Step 4: Add the post-its
Take the base paper off from the post-it notepad and stick it on the inside of the cover.
Step 4: Add the additional floral layers
I like curling the top most layer of petals but that’s totally up to you.
Just glue the layers together and you’re done.
