I designed this set of floral Cricut cards as a default base that I can easily customize for all sorts of occasions. They can easily be used as Thank you Cards, or birthdays or even anniversaries.
Sometimes you just need a card. When you have a Cricut, there is no need to go out and buy a card. I got sick of buying a card for $5 when sometimes the present itself was only $10.
Please, isn’t it more heartfelt to gift something that you made yourself? That was precisely the intention behind this set of cards.
I took some of my most popular patterns from my other projects and altered them slightly to fit a standard A7 card. I added a ribbon space (adjustable in the template) for those that want to add a sentiment.

Materials for Easy Customizable Cricut Cards
Cardstock – I have a few favorites for cardmaking. I use at minimum a medium weight (65lb) cardstock for the base. Ideally, I use 80lbs or higher if I have it. Here are some of my favorite brands:
- Assorted Starter Pack – Basic assorted colors, great starter pack, perfect weight for most papercraft projects
- Cricut Joy Insert Card Packs – You don’t have to use these with the Cricut Joy, they are nice material kids for cardmaking.
- Cardstock Warehouse Brand on Amazon – I love the quality of all the matte-colored cardstock with Cardstock Warehouse. It is my go-to brand for individual matte colors that I might need
- Poptone Assorted Variety Pack – This is the perfect peppy assortment of colors of heavy cardstock. It’s a heavy cardstock assortment with colors I actually use frequently for cardmaking.
- Seasonal Assorted Variety Pack – This is a slight variation on the Poptone assortment and has a quite few neutrals that complement almost any accent color.
- Stardream Metallics Line – For paper crafts, the Stardream line is the go-to for a metallic shimmer finish. It is the perfect sheen to make any project pop. The core is also colored is which hard to find for metallic paper.
Glue – Depending on the design of the card, I have a few favorites that I use for cardmaking:
Cricut – I use a cutting machine to do some of the cutting for this project. This of course is optional but it sure makes things go faster. Check out my reviews for Best Cricut machines for beginners if you’re new to the Cricut.

How to Customize Cricut Cards
There are a couple of different ways to add a sentiment to your card.
First, if you want to add a plain background ribbon for the floral pattern base, you will need to weld the rectangular piece to the base pattern template.
You can either slice the letters into the base pattern or cut them out separately. If you are going to slice the letters into the base, be sure to pick a font that is meant for stenciling. Otherwise, all the free-floating parts of the letters like “a” will fall out.
I prefer to make a separate sentiment piece with the background color cardstock. I find this more aesthetically pleasing, it opens up a lot of different fonts.
A few tips for making custom Cricut Cards
I like to use a “seasoned” standard grip mat or a fresh blue mat for these more intricate designs. I find anything more sticky is hard to clean.
After cutting, remove the card. Then either scrape off the scraps with a scraping device like a credit card or use a lint roller to pick up the pieces.
For cardstock 80lbs or heavier, be sure to score any folds. I don’t like scoring with the Cricut because it doesn’t line up easily and it’s much easier to do by hand.
To attach more intricate paper patterns, I like to use a glue dot roller and just roll the adhesive on the backside. Be sure to place some scrap paper down so you don’t ruin whatever is sitting underneath the card cutout.
Normally, I like to use foam tape for layering on cards to create a more dimensional effect. However, for these more intricate paper designs, I find a flatter finish looks better.
These are super easy to customize. The floral designs are very versatile in terms of occasion and recipient. Make a bunch and you’ll always have a card on hand!
