DOMESTIC HEIGHTS

diy family Established signs

DIY family established signs are a great gift for newlyweds or new housewarming parties.

They are super easy to make. Whether you are making a rustic wood sign or just doing a cute printout with a nice frame, there are endless possibilities and many of them are easy to make yourself.

These DIY family sign printables and SVGs are free and available in my resource library.

Different Methods for Making Name Signs

There are many ways to present your family name sign. I’ve listed a few here from easiest to slightly more complex. I make most of my signs using a Cricut cutting machine but there are many methods that you can employ just doing it by hand.

In fact, some people prefer the aesthetic of a hand-painted wooden family sign. Many people don’t like the look of a vinyl iron on top of wood and would rather hand paint something so it goes more with the rustic aesthetic.

If paint is your medium of choice, then there’s a simple way to copy your template onto your canvas.

Simply print your image, then color in the back with a and trace over the front of the image onto the canvas. The pencil backing acts as a carbon copy.

The above method works great for pallet signs as well. I’m not a huge fan of paint and like to stick to chalk markers. Amazon has a great selection of pallet signs.

Vinyl Signs

This is how I made mine below. I have a cutting machine which made things a little easier but it’s a simple enough design to do it by hand. Amazon also has a great selection of vinyl.
