5 Free Paper Heart Box Templates

These 3D Heart Crafts are super easy and can be filled with all sorts of goodies and treats.

When making crafts, I always ensure that it is a design or output I will be proud to share. However, some of you have been asking whether there is an easy craft in making adorable packaging. Packaging can be a messy task. You can go to your local store and buy a neat gift wrapper. But there are instances when you want to make your handmade packaging.

For this purpose, I decided to share a very neat way to prepare a paper heart box. This paper heart box is perfect for every occasion and holiday. It’s also easy to do; you can follow it by reading the following instructions.

Heads up! You may want to make sure that you have your ruler, pen, and sturdy paper. Yes, you do not need many items for this project. I know that all of these items are probably in your drawer or cabinet right now.

I highly recommend that you get sturdy paper if you’re planning to pack a heavy item. However, you can still pick a lightweight paper for small accessories or crafts.

Materials for Heart Paper Boxes

Cardstock – I recommend medium weight cardstock for the rigidity. Here are some of my favorite brands:

Glue – I have a few paper crafting favorites for glue:

Cricut – I use a cutting machine to do some of the cutting for this project. This of course is optional but it sure makes things go faster. Check out my reviews for Best Cricut machines for beginners if you’re new to the Cricut.

Templates – This paper heart box template is free in both SVG and printable PDF formats for free in my resource library.

How to make a paper heart box

The first step is to ensure that you prepare all the materials needed. The second step is to prepare your packaging layout/guide. You can refer to the photo above. As for the measurements, you can customize them to your liking.
After drawing the layout on the paper, the next step is to cut it. If you follow the guide/photo, you will come up with this particular paper cut. If you fail to achieve the layout on your first try, don’t be afraid to redo it.
The fourth step can be tricky. You start by drawing a line 0.25 to 0.5 inches from the edge of the layout. You do not need to line it all the way.
The fifth step is to fold the lined edges inwards. This will help tighten and complete the paper heart box. At the same time, these folds will clasp together to build the packaging.

The last step is to start folding the shape to form a box. Make sure that the heart appears on top of the packaging. If the box is unstable, put tapes on it. You may want to skip glue on this one.

Other Paper Heart Boxes

There are other paper heart boxes available if you don’t want the design mentioned. You can pick a heart box from your local shop or order online. Then, you can customize it by cutting designs on it. It adds definition to your heart box, and your recipient can take a peek at the gift.
Here’s an easier paper heart craft! You just need to cut your paper with four folds in a petal shape. Then, the edges of the two folds will be cut to hearts, while the other two will have a slit.
