I love making flowers from crepe paper but I’m always looking for a good crepe paper substitute. When you are making party paper flowers, you just can’t afford expensive full sheets of the stuff.
I made this beautiful metallic gold streamer paper flower in 5 mins and the materials only cost 10 cents. I used less than 2 feet of streamer to make one flower and I even bought the fancy gold streamer for $3.
Let’s get to it then, starting with materials:

Streamers – The best part of this is if you are making paper flowers for a party or wedding, you only have to buy one set of material. Here are the gold streamers I used from Amazon.
Tacky Glue and/or Double Sided Tape – I prefer having both but it is not necessary. A glue gun works too but I’m lazy don’t want to get mine out unless I have to.
Template – I spent some time perfecting my template and sizing the petals to the base correctly so it would look good after assembly. My template is free. I’ve made it available in all formats (SVG|PNG|PDF). (if you are going to do this on the

Tutorial for Making Streamer Crepe Paper Flower
Step 1: Fold 3 piece of streamer accordion-style to the width of each template. Each accordion should have 3 folds. This means each accordion should have 6 ‘pages’, or after you cut them out, it should have 6 petals.
When you are done with this step, you have 3 strips of cut streamer with 6 petals each.
Step 2: Take the streamer strip from template 1 and start rolling it with the metallic side of the streamer facing inward towards the center of the flower.
The point of rolling it in this direction is so when looking down at the flower, it will look metallic.
Either wrap the base loop of the roll with tape or glue it in place.
Step 3: Start rolling the streamer strip from template 2 around the first roll with the metallic part facing inwards.
Either wrap the base loop of the roll with tape or glue it in place.
Step 4: The last streamer strip needs to be rolled on with the metallic part facing outwards. This way, when you view the flower from the side, it also the metallic.
As you are rolling this outer piece, stretch the streamer base as necessary to offset the petals.
Step 5: Secure the outer piece with tape or glue. Then I sort of smother the base of the roll with glue. When it dries, it sort of keeps it all together.
Step 6: Stretch the petals
This all might seem a little complicated in your first try but it’s super easy after that. Regardless, it is really hard to mess up. And if you do, it was only 10 cents!!
