9 SIMPLE DIY THANK YOU CARDS FOR KIDS TO MAKE AT HOME

There are so many simple DIY thank you cards for kids to make at home.

As a parent, I know how tricky it can be to get kids to write thank-you notes. Recently, I started making handmade thank you cards with my kids as a craft activity we can do together. This way, showing gratitude becomes less of a chore and more like a fun art project!

Additionally, making handmade thank you cards are the perfect time to talk about the importance of gratitude with your children. With a lesson in thankfulness, kids often feel more appreciative of what they have. Plus, they are sure to warm their gift giver’s heart with a handmade card.

Between kid’s activities, working, and keeping up with friends, busy parents may not have a ton of time to make a handmade card with their kids.

With free printable coloring cards, you can send any friend or family member a cute, heartfelt custom greeting card. Since most printable cards are designed like coloring pages, these are perfect for any child who enjoys arts and crafts. Of course, printable cards are a great way to save time and money as well. As long as you have coloring supplies such as markers, crayons, or colored pencils and a working printer, you don’t need to go to the store before you get started! Surely, your gift recipient is sure to appreciate the time and effort you put into making something homemade.

For toddlers and younger children, printables are a great way to introduce them to crafting. Whether you’re looking for an well wishes, birthday, or holiday card, there are templates for almost any occasion! In this post, I’ll go through some of the best free printable coloring cards for kids to make at home.

Printable Thank You Cards

First, printable thank you cards for kids are one of the best cards you can make with children. Usually, these cards come with the words and images already printed on the card. Then, your kids can color the cards however they would like.

For example, many printable cards have “Thank You” printed in bubble letters on the front. Since these are simple coloring projects, these are a great craft you can make with your toddler. As long as you have crayons, markers, or colored pencils, they can get started right away!

Once your kids color in the printable section, you can help them write a heartfelt message on the inside of the card. This is a fun way to engage kids and help them learn about different types of animals. Of course, they’ll also learn about how important it is to show appreciation and and say thank you.

Banner Card Design

In addition, banner cards DIY are another creative homemade card to make with your kids. To make this card, you just need a few scraps of cardstock, string, and a blank card. If you choose to make this card from scratch, you can use a Cricut cutting machine to make the DIY birthday banner or you can cut the flags from scratch.

If you don’t have a ton of cardstock, you can also use washi tape. You just need to fold it over your string. Then, cut the tape in flag or triangle shapes.

Once you have the banner, you can write one letter of “thank you” on each flag. Alternatively, you can write thank you at the bottom. Of course, thank you banner card kits usually have all of the materials you need to make this quickly with your kids at home.

Magical 3D Unicorn Card

Next, handmade 3D unicorn cards are another fun thank you craft you can make with your kids. This is a perfect thank you card to make if your daughter or son recently had a birthday party. My daughter has also used these as pop up unicorn happy birthday cards. There are plenty of DIY unicorn birthday party ideas you can make with your kids as well. For example, you can make unicorn lanterns, birthday banners, and garlands!

Next, you can also color this unicorn printable happy birthday card free with your kids. This is perfect to make for any children’s birthday party or general unicorn fan. Usually, these fun, magical cards feature a beautiful unicorn for your kids to color. Often, they have stars and hearts as well!

To get started making this card, you just need to print it, cut, color and fold it. Then, add your own stickers or a personal message to make a fun DIY card! Of course, you can also pair this free printable coloring card with a unicorn stuffed animal gift or rainbow lollipop.

Washi Tape Thank You Cards

Another great DIY thank you card for kids is washi tape thank you cards. Since these are made with a simple cut shape, they’re super easy to make with your kids! All they have to do is decorate them and write the message.

If you don’t have any washi tape, you can also use colorful cardstock to fill in the cutout part. This card is perfect if your child has to make a full batch of thank-you notes after a birthday party or holiday celebration.

Gratitude Jar Cards

Gratitude jar cards are another fun thank you card you can do with your kids. For this thank you card design, attach a jar shape cutout to the front of the card. Then, you can decorate it to make it look like flowers are blooming from the jar. For this step, your kids may want to draw flowers poking up. Alternatively, you can use flower paper cutouts as well.

On the inside of the jar, you or your kids can write thanks. You can also make it look like slips of paper are in the jar, telling the recipient what they’re thankful for.
